is a new name for two old companies.
Southeast Mutual came into being on January 1, 2001 as the result of a merger
between Rollingstone Mutual
Insurance Company and
Rochester Farmers Mutual Insurance
Company.
The new company had offices in both Lewiston, Minnesota and Rochester, Minnesota. The two offices were linked with the help of advanced computer technology, but still found it hard to conduct daily business in two separate locations. As a result, it was decided to combine the two offices into one central location.
After much discussion by the Board of Directors, the city of St. Charles, Minnesota was declared as the future location of a new office building for Southeast Mutual Insurance Company. Construction began in July 2002 and in October of the same year the two offices closed and moved into the new location.
We're now settled in and working toward making Southeast Mutual a very important presence in southeastern Minnesota. We were the first business in St. Charles to connect to a new high speed fiber optic internet connection. With this capability, we're now accepting electronic and credit card payments from our customers. We pride ourselves on a high standard of service to our policyholders and agents alike.
Our structure as a township mutual is unique, in that Southeast Mutual writes the fire and extended coverages for the property and one of the companies that we package with writes the wind and liability portion of the coverages. Our three current package companies are North Star Mutual located in Cottonwood, Minnesota, RAM Mutual Insurance Company located in Esko, Minnesota and Austin Mutual Insurance Group located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
